Christmas Tablescapes

in bloom studio Christmas tablescape with pine and berries

A fabulous festive tablescape will draw family and friends into a welcoming, heartwarming and stylish Christmas experience.

So give your table setting some extra love this year and see their eyes light up! It’s so much fun to do, and the possibilities are limitless. You can really let your personality shine through and delight everyone - of any age - with a display fit for the whole twelve days of Christmas!

Colour Christmas your way

Decide on your colour scheme. You might want to keep it clean and simple with soft neutrals, or prefer something deep and warm. And don’t forget the option of adding a bit of yuletide drama with colour combos like black and red or deep purple and gold. Inspiration is everywhere, so keep your eyes peeled for ideas online, in magazines and when you’re out and about!

A wonderful way to add seasonal colour and texture is with flowers and greenery - from the lovely red-berried holly, pretty mistletoe, and pine and eucalyptus branches, to the striking amaryllis with its large, scarlet, trumpet-shaped flowers. You can get these from your local florist, or foliage can be cut from gardens or woods as long as you have permission. Christmas tree sellers are usually really helpful too and often let you take off-cuts for free.

Think Layers

We’re not referring to jumpers here! Layering is the best place to start when you’re planning an impressive tablescape. Starting with your tablecloth and runner as the base layers, create each place setting with stacks of plates and crockery before adding napkins for some extra pattern and texture. Centrepieces, using vases with tall foliage or candlesticks are perfect for adding height - just make sure people can see each other across the table! Check out our fabulous Ester & Erik candles - ideal for adding both height and elegance at this special time of year.

Sparkle, Shine and Shimmer

Go on… it’s Christmas! Don’t be a scrooge when it comes to imagination and fun. Whatever your inspiration, whether you’re a winter wonderland fan, a lover of all that’s traditional, or have a penchant for something a bit different and magical, there’s no end to the decorations and finishing touches you can find to suit your style. You can create a real sense of occasion and ambiance by adding sparkling glassware, polished cutlery, flickering tea lights and twinkling fairy lights for a full-on cosy glow. Little surprise trinkets dotted around the table to add that final flourish are a lovely way to complete the look. Miniature figures, cute snowmen, little Santas and elves, mini gift boxes, faux jewels, candied fruits, gold and silver chocolate coins… there are so many ways to spark some festive joy.

The personal touch

Finally, an easy way to make everyone’s day even more memorable is by adding individual name cards with a special, personal message. It costs next to nothing and makes a lovely keepsake.

Whatever you do, have a wonderful, creative Christmas with the people you love.
