One year at Longniddry Steading

This October marks one whole year since we packed up the flower shop in Edinburgh and opened the doors to our new home at Longniddry Steading. And, as you might expect, we’re not letting our anniversary pass without flowers, fizz and a bit of a celebration!

A year in The Wheel House

When we first shared the news that In Bloom was moving to East Lothian, it was a pretty big change for us. We’d spent years building our flower shop and community in Edinburgh, but moving into The Wheel House at Longniddry Steading gave us something we’d wanted for a long time: more space to grow.

A year on, we’ve welcomed lots of familiar faces from Edinburgh through the doors, met so many new customers from Longniddry and across East Lothian and filled the studio with flowers, plants, gifts and all sorts of lovely things for the home.

We’ve hosted workshops, talked weddings, made countless bouquets and watched the Steading around us continue to grow too.

And yes, we’re still lucky enough to have a working waterwheel running right through the shop which has attracted even more people through our doors!

If you haven’t discovered Longniddry Steading yet…

There’s quite a bit tucked behind those old stone walls! The earliest parts of Longniddry Steading date back to around 1790, when the buildings were part of a busy working farm. Following an extensive redevelopment, the historic buildings have been carefully brought back to life and are now home to a growing collection of independent businesses.

You can pick up flowers from us, stop for coffee or something to eat, browse art, book a beauty or wellbeing treatment, visit the hairdresser or make a bit of an afternoon of it.

It’s one of the things we’ve loved most about being here. In Bloom might be your reason for coming, but there’s lots more around us once you’re here.

Come to our first birthday

We’re celebrating properly on Saturday 17 October, from 10am–4pm, and you’re invited.

There’ll be cupcakes and prosecco for every customer, plus 10% off all flowers throughout the day.

And because we couldn’t have a birthday without giving out a few presents of our own, our first five customers will each receive a bouquet of flowers from us too.

Whether you’ve been a loyal customer for years, found us since our move or have only just discovered us, we’d love to see you there!

Come and find us

If you’ve spotted Longniddry Steading in the latest edition of The Cryer and wondered what’s behind those big green doors, this is a pretty good excuse to come and have a look.

You’ll find In Bloom Studio in The Wheel House at Longniddry Steading, Longniddry Farm Road, Longniddry, East Lothian EH32 0QJ.
